DDP Training from Families Empowered
Our Primary DDP Consultant Benjamin Hargrave leads in-person DDP Training at Families Empowered that offers an experiential learning journey to inspire the next step in your career.
Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (DDP) was created by Clinical Psychologist Dan Hughes to help children and families living with early relational trauma.
The DDP model uses theory and research in the areas of developmental trauma, attachment theory, intersubjectivity, polyvagal theory and child development to produce an integrated therapeutic approach that can be used by therapists, professionals and caregivers. DDP can help relationship development and trauma resolution for families with adopted or fostered children and young people, and those under Special Guardianship Orders or other permanency arrangements.
Certified DDP Practitioner, Consultant and Trainer, Benjamin Hargrave, will lead all DDP training at Families Empowered, bringing you his expertise, compassion and skills as an educator.

What to expect in DDP Level One Training
DDP Level One Training offers a foundation in theories relevant to working with families who experience developmental trauma and attachment difficulties.
An introduction to DDP's core principles, including PACE (Playfulness, Acceptance, Curiosity and Empathy), will support trainees to develop their current practice with new skills to help families experience greater security and openness in their relationships.
Certified DDP Trainer, Benjamin Hargrave, will use a range of materials, group-led activities, whole-group discussions and an experiential way of learning across the four days, as well as providing DDP resources for you to keep.

What to expect in DDP Level Two Training
DDP Level Two Training allows participants to deepen their experiential skills and understanding of attachment theory through further role playing, group discussions and treatment session reviews. Participants will be encouraged to consider how these impact on them as practitioners.
The training group will be smaller to enable greater exploration and discussion. Participants are asked to bring recordings of their work in DDP since Level One, where possible, to benefit from Benjamin's feedback and supervision.
